Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

This section has been written to support the teaching of students with Special Needs. It includes sections on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Aspergers Syndrome, ICT Access, ADHD, Learning Difficulties (MLD and SLD), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and Epilepsy. There is also a section on the use of Data and Assessment for students with Special Needs and relevant Educational Management.

The section has been set up to support teachers and teaching assistants who are relatively inexperienced in working with students with Special Needs. It aims to provide access to some basic information that may be useful and doesn't aim to be an 'expert' site on any one disability. There are many sites relating to 'Autism Spectrum Disorders' or 'Cerebral Palsy' or other and so this site doesn't aim to reproduce the superb information found on those, more to act as an easy to access guide to what I have found to be the most useful information to get going when teaching children with Special Needs.

The information should be particularly useful to mainstream teachers who want to gain a basic understanding of Autism (ASD) and Aspergers, or who are about to take on the teaching of students with maybe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Cerebral Palsy or Muscular Dystrophy. As well as textual information there are also links to videos and other websites. There are links to resources to support the curriculum for those with Learning Difficulties (MLD and SLD). The site will also be useful to Teachers and Teaching Assistants new to Special Schools.

Disabilities currently included: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, Learning Difficulties (MLD and SLD), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Epilepsy.

Additional sections on: ICT Access, Data and Assessment for Special Schools and Educational Management for Special Schools.
